How Reno Tree Service Pros Handles a Job

Reno Tree Service Pros removes, prunes and grinds out trees for homeowners in Reno, Sparks and the rest of the Truckee Meadows, from the older streets near the Truckee River to hillside subdivisions in the southwest and newer neighborhoods to the north. We also do storm cleanup, defensible-space tree work and plain-language checks on trees that worry you.

A job starts with a visit to the tree. We look at the species, the lean, dead or hanging limbs, cracks and old pruning wounds, and the base of the trunk. Then we look at what is around it: the roof, a fence, the neighbor's yard, the service line running from the pole to your house, and how a crew would reach it. In Reno that often means a narrow side yard, a block wall, a slope behind the house or a rock landscape bed that has to be protected.

We also sort out whose tree it is. The City of Reno requires a Tree Work Permit before anyone removes, prunes or plants a tree in the public right-of-way or on other city property, and that work has to be done by a Certified Arborist. If a tree looks like a city tree, we tell you before we quote and point you to Urban Forestry at 775-321-8373, which can confirm ownership. Trees growing into the high-voltage lines between poles are NV Energy's to prune; the service line to the house is the owner's responsibility, and anything touching it is a call to NV Energy first.

After the visit you get a written quote. Each tree has its own line: what will be cut, how it will come down or be pruned, what happens to the logs, brush and chips, whether the stump is included, and the price. If something changes once work starts, such as rot hidden inside a trunk, we stop and agree the change with you before going on.

What to expect on the day

  • Limbs lowered on ropes where dropping them would damage a roof, a wall or landscaping.
  • Pruning cuts made at the branch collar, following the ANSI A300 pruning standard, with no topping.
  • Rock beds, drip lines and lawns protected from equipment where we can.
  • Brush chipped, logs cut to firewood length or hauled away, as you choose.
  • Storm calls ranked by danger: trees on a house, a blocked driveway or a line come first.
  • You pay for the work on the quote you approved.

We do not spray or inject trees. Treating trees for pests such as elm leaf beetle is pesticide work, and in Nevada it is done by licensed pesticide applicators; if that is what a tree needs, we will say so.
